I am a creative collaborator and performer in this beautiful and curious show, with investigations started during lockdown and drawing on the range of skills of an extraordinary collection of artist drawn from the legendary People Show and IOU.
The show begins at twilight when three musicians arrive at a gig , but as the evening darkens the atmosphere begins to change. Will they ever discover the secret of the egg? Perched above it all is Crow and she may well have all the answers, there is really no way to tell.
This is a weird and wonderful show that defies definition: there’s exquisite music, haphazard illusions, comic mishap, thoughtful poetry and curious projections…
‘Thus sang the crow on the gallows tree:
The world – or so it seems to me –
Is, when you get up close enough,
Just energy disguised as stuff…’
From Carrion Crow, by Lou Glandfield
The show was commissioned by Without Walls in 2023 and has appeared at events including Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Timber Festival, Kensington and Chelsea Festival, Stockton International Riverside Festival and Devizes Winter Festival.
The company was supported by Without Walls to use The Difference Engine, a captioning service provided by Talking Birds, at Timber and Stockton.
