I was lucky to work as a devising performer for Burn the Curtain in their engaging and eerie adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s poem The Hunting of the Snark – designed for a series of forest locations managed by the Forestry Commission and performed in 2018. It was special to spend time in these ancient woodlands and to play with people as the light faded…

I appeared as The Bonnetmaker, one of the hapless crew of misfits who follow the Bellman with no map across the ocean to find the legendary Snark and fulfil their dreams. The production envisages the crew 10 years after the end of the poem, now reduced to 3 estranged characters. The audience is tasked with finding out what’s ensued and to find the snark at last, discovering meanwhile friendship is more important than possessions.
